Hi, I'm going to look at a 695 that's quite rough sheet metal wise, all the front grill parts are missing, but owner says the engine runs well. My question for the wise folks is that the hydraulic when warmed up is slow lifting the three point and steering is tight and jerky. Could this just be filters and maybe screen or is there an inherent condition with this tractor? I haven't seen it yet so I will check fluids first. It has 4500 hrs on it ?? Any suggestions as what to look at in order to head off future problems?
Thanks, there is always wagon load of helpful information here.

Hi, if the system work good cold, sound like a worn pump. Best way to check, place a gauge in the remote outlet and check for 2100 psi min. Check cold and warm. Bernard le mecano Quebec Canada

Hi JD, I would check the parking brake. The most common problem with this model of tractor is the parking brake warning light on the dash burns out and someone drives it with the parking brake on. This grinds up the parking brake band in the differential area and all the bits get in the hydraulic oil and clog up the hydraulic filter.
Depending on level of contamination, the problem can be fixed by changing hydraulic filter 3 or 4 times. Worst case is draining and purging complete hydraulic system and cleaning MCV valves.
The D239 German Diesel engine is very reliable and lasts a long time if properly maintained.

Check the hydraulic fluid level, parking brake and left and right brakes for being spongy.

695 is a great tractor, but this one I'd walk away unless REALLY cheap....given the hyd issues and that you are looking in the 1000's to replace missing grill etc unless you can find a junker with it intact or are happy with it looking like crap.
