PTO part for M Farmall

Need Oil Seal IH Part 59398D for the PTO on my M, however, IH no longer carries this part. Where should I go to try and locate this part.
Thanks. Harley

Case-IH probably DOES NOT have that exact part number, but they will have a seal that WILL work. I got one just a few years ago for my M.

I can generally get those from the local auto parts store. They can cross reference that #.

At least our local NAPA can.

Let us know if that doesn't work, I have several good Case IH dealers in my area. They got me all the seals and gaskets for the front of my transmission case.

Evidently the orignal owner purchase the PTO at a later date in that the diagram in the parts manual shows this as for later ser #s. This oil seal has 59398D stamped on it. It appears to be a double seal that fits behind the bearing instead of in front toward the opening. It is about 3/4" wide and the center hole is about 1 7/8". the outside measures about 2 7/8". Maybe this better explan it. Thanks. Harley

You just described to the letter what the original seal looks like, and no, that one is no longer available, but that number has been replaced by a newer, modern style that is actually superior to the original. The new seal is much thinner, about 1/2 the thickness. It is not necessary, but you can install 2 of the new seals in place of the original.
