806, 856.....???

Which tractor was turbocharged? Or was there one of similar size that was? What years were they or were they all? Just wondering. Thanks all.

Neither one was turboed. The 1206, 1256, 1456 were turboed.

The 856 had a little more horsepower with a 407 cid engine, the 806 had a 360 cid engine. the transmission shifting was changed on the 856.

Eli Whitney's concept of interchangeable parts means that a turbo can be added to an 806 or 856 quite easily using off-the-shelf parts or parts from a donor tractor like a 1206, 1026, 1256, or 1456.

There was also an aftermarket kit available in the late 1960's and early 1970's to add a turbo.

Any time you see an 806 or 856 with a turbo, it was added on.
