On an F12 there is a serial # on the tag under the gas tank and also stamped on the engine block. Are there numbers anywhere else too? I am going to make one out of two so if I use the plate that matches the engine # the rest can be mixed. Right? One is a 36 & the other is a 37.

the major components have date cast codes on them. but yes you can do what ever it takes to make your tractor complete and satisfy yourself.unless your totally restoring it for originality and show thats another story.thats what i mean by lack of info. , dont know what or how your plans are for it. yard work? building for show? to sell?

Don't know about the F12, but an F20 has the serial number in three places. Tag on the tool box, stamped on the engine, and stamped into the top of the left hand frame rail towards the rear.

F-12 had the number only on the block & tag. I've had a hard time finding casting date codes on F-12's, I don't think many of the F-12 parts had casting codes.

Teddy,There is a letter stamped on the rear indicating the rear end speed, but this will not affect you.I lucked out and my first F12 has a 7mph road gear.I forget the letters but they are published in the F series book

These are 2 that I saved from the scrap man a year ago. They were in the woods for many years. Between the 2 I will still need to get some things to make one a complete, running tractor.
