Hey, My farmall H has come down with a rear end noise, in 5th gear it makes a whining noise if i put it in neutral it makes a grinding sound. I started taking the top cover off. What do I look for inside. thanks for your ideas. Pete

If it is the pilot bearing, don't neglect it. It can, and will, tear up your constant mesh gears. Before you pull the deck, just yank the belt pulley gearbox/delete cover. You can see the upper constant mesh and input shaft. You may be able to detect your problem. When in neutral the only things turning are the input shaft and the countershaft. Either way you can do all the necessary repairs without splitting.
