throttle lever on C

Hi My friend says his lever creeps back to slow from fast I haven"t looked at it. Can some one point me to a diagram of it Thank You Dave K

It sounds like either the sawteeth in the throttle quadrant are worn down and rounded, or the tooth in the lever has worn down, or both, to the point that governor tension is backfeeding to the control and moving the lever. The solution in that case is to either file the sawteeth a little sharper without going too deep, and do the same with the lever if necessary. Replacements for either are available from oemtractorparts.com if that becomes necessary.

It could also be as simple as the spring on the outside of the lever having weakened or partly broken away, and that a new spring (same source) would put the necessary tension back to solve the problem.

Though the lever was a different shape, the C throttle control was the same concept as on the A and B/BN.

The friction disc Jim describes was found on Hs and Ms. I suppose someone could have adapted one to a C.

I wouldn't waste my time at a boneyard for these kinds of parts. Most of the tractors will have the same worn-out throttle parts. Any good ones will have disappeared long ago.

Jim, I think you`re confusing the throttle lever and saw tooth quadrant with the 2 touch control levers. Those 2 touch control levers indeed have friction discs and springs in the assembly.
I have had good success in making the throttle quadrant and lever not slip back like they are prone to do from excessive wear. I have a good triangular file that I sharpen the saw teeth on the quadrant, and I build up with a tiny bit of weld and re-shape the notch on the throttle lever that fits into the saw tooth quadrant. As was posted earlier, make sure the spring is in good shape too.In 10 minutes of work, it can be a good working set up again. Good luck
