560 rust in gas tank

I have taken the tank off several times, cleaned all the rust that I can, I put in a stem, but after a while, it will clog up the line.
Is there a chemical or something that I can put in it? Are there any after-market tanks? The parts person at IH said that a new tank would be at least $1100 if he could get it.

If your sediment bowl is intact, and the flat screen is in place above the glass bowl, all that rust should be caught right there. That is what the sediment bowl is for. Periodically remove that glass bowl and clean the crud out of it, and after a while there should be no more problems.

when the tank is that bad the screen and sediment bowl does nothing because the rust piles up above the out let line and plugs it.you need another tank, should be able to get a good used one. there is some liner junk you can use but i dont know how good it is.i have been fighting this problem also.

I think I have read here on the forum about using pea gravel inside the drained tank attached to something slow turning like an electric powered cement mixer.

I will probably have to do something similar on my 460U. The sediment bowl definitely helps out, though, in the meantime. The 340U I just got has no such bowl...it will be high on the shopping list to get one!!!
