That looks like a awesome machine. I would make sure all the fluid is in good shape, grease every zerk and put it in the shed till I need some heavy horsepower. looks great as it is to me.

Is it just me, or do you all agree that 1206's should be paired up with narrow fronts? Man, I think they look unstoppable with narrow fronts. We have a 1206 that I want to put a narrow front on. My opinion on the paint is if you have a shed to put it in and have the time to keep it clean, then paint her up. Nothing like a shiny 1206 to turn me on! Ours sits outside. So do half our cows year round. If anything gets shelter in the future, it should probably be the cows. So our equipment sits out side, and until it has shelter, paint is a waste of $$. Your 12 looks like a beast!! Good luck, Doug

What an old Brute. I like the old 1206s. NF not a big deal but I much prefer the Wide Fronts overall for general use. Don't get me wrong, for doing yard work, turning short, a 300 Farmall even without P/S is an awesome tractor for a hobby farm. I grew up on a 400 LPG with a narrow front and it was a good tractor but I wish it was wide front, especially since we had a loader on it. I had to be very careful with it. We also had a JD B with a narrow front and it was handy with the narrow front mowing the small pastures with woven wire fences and the ole #5 sickle mower.

I have graduated to a 560 diesel with a wide front now and do a lot of ditch mowing and LOVE the W/F end. If I had my perference it would be a wide front as I feel so much more stable and safe on it. I guess my dad worried me to death with the narrow fronts and took some of the joy out of using them but at least I never had any accidents thank goodness.

I worked for a couple different farmers row cropping and they all had wide front ends on their 706, 806, 856 and 1066 that I used. I also worked for a fella that had a 7600 Ford, 8600 and TW20 Fords. Those brazillian diesels performed great. They all also had W/F ends.

For the novelty, that 1206 looks awesome in its work clothes, my cousin has one the same color scheme and his is a WF, I love them both. They each have their place.

Dude, put some duals back on it wash it good add an umbrella and charge the city boys for a real tractor ride!!!

That is one nice original 1206. I would be hard pressed to paint it, maybe touch er up a little and call it good? A wide front sure is comfortable to run in the field all day but that 1206 sure looks good with the narrow front.
