IH v25 sickle bar

I have a v25 sickle bar that I put a a super H that I cut hay with. There is a thin metal piece that bolts into the pitman arm that hooks to an offset shaft to run the sickle bar. This metal piece has broken right in front of the pitman arm. I tried welding it back together lasted about one acrea and then broke beside the weld. Does anyone know if this piece can be obtained anywhere or the part number. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Greg

You can try the link provided but it is likely that it may be discontinued. Your CIH dealer can do a search and see if anyone has NOS. Your best source for parts on the older mowers is a second mower or buying a pitman with hardware attached at auction/ebay. Won't be all that hard. Really, I can tell you that if you are going to use those old semi-mount mowers you really need to have a parts mower or two in the fencerow.

I take it you are describing the "pitman box connection". They generally don't repair well. There are at least 2 common versions of that part. One is used with a ball bearing pitman, the other with the plain bearing. To reuse your existing bearing, you need the same type. The entire subassembly will interchange.

If IH doesn't have the part [I would bet they will] use the old one to make a pattern & use a piece of 1/8 inch material for a replacement. As I remember, there is nothing super-critical or close tolerance on this part. WE broke 2 or3 of these pieces on our mower.
