Kinda O/T Looking For Pics Of IH Owned Locomotives

I've seen a couple of black & white photos of steam engines used for switching cars around IH factories. I know of only one photo of a diesel owned/leased by Harvester & it's b&w also. A brief description indicated it was painted red & green with gold lettering. May have been used at the plant in Chicago or Rock Island. I'm hoping to come across a color photo or a slide so I can model it on my train layout. I'm also looking for photos of the coal hoppers IH owned or any rail related photos in & around the factories. I've checked with the online archives from Madison & I'm afraid it's not quite what I'm looking for. I know they can search through their photos but, that requires something I don't have a lot of ($). I've poked around on the internet, off & on, for a few years now & have surfaced nothing. Except a reference to the magazine with the afforementioned diesel photo. Any help would be greatly appreciated, for I am rather frustrated - Mike

IH had atleast 2 diesel yard switchers (SW1's???) painted and marked for them. I have 2 color slides of these. (sorry no way to scan them right now)

One of the engines has the IH on the cab side.

I believe one was used at East Moline Combine plant and the other at WI Steel. I bet that both are scrapped by now.

Now that's exiting news! I can confirm IH owned at least one SW1, received summer of '65 from the Milwaukee Road. As for the slides, could I trouble you to make dupes? I would be more than happy to reimburse you the cost. I have a few railroad slides, myself (99% Milw. Rd.). If there's something specific, i.e. engine model or type of boxcar, you are looking for, let me know. Maybe we could work out a barter. I do have the resources to find slides from other rr's, too. Please keep me posted, thanks - Mike

No Sir! Nuthin' on the free archive. I've been checking there every couple weeks for a while, to no avail. The photo of the train of all-steel threshers & the train load of Scouts is nothing short of AWSOME, tho. As for the NIWX engines, did Illinois Northern lease units to IH or buy up the engines from IH? I am planning to venture out to the RPRU in Madison. Will you be at the show? If you are not too busy, I'd sure like to shake your hand. Take Care - Mike

Mike,
Check with Randy Jung at www.Right Track Hobbies.com.
If it has to do with trains or model trains Randy will know.
You may already know him from the train shows.
Tell him his ol' aviator buddy sent you.
