Farmall 560 hydraulic fuid

Just got a 1961 Farmall 560 Lp. I need to know where you put in hydraulic fluid & does the fluid go into the power steering pump also or is that seperate? If seperate where does the ps fluid go? Thanks! James

the oil you use is hytrans oil.there is a 3 bolt cover on the right side of steering box, thats the placeit goes.this cover looks like your gear shift lever pattern. p.s. hyd. and trans all in here.check plug is on left by clutch rod, fill till it runs out.

The main hyd, pump and the power steering pump are piggy-back togather and share the same filter and oil intake from the transmission. on the left side of the tractor ahead of the clutch and the trans. check plug you see a big steel line that becomes a rubber hose that goes to the bottom of the steeering console and two smaller steel lines that follow the left frame forward to the steering gear pump. The pumps are in the housing where these lines orignate. The trans. holds about 15 gals. of hy-tran but the hyd. pump only uses the top 5 gal(+/-) so when the hyd. pump is low on oil you should have about 10 gal. left in the trans./rearend. Hope this information helps. Armand

Is there an additive to soften the gaskets?
