Identifying This Farmall Tractor

My husband and I have an old Farmall Tractor which we are trying to identify. We have the serial number but are having a really hard time pinpointing which Farmall it is, which makes it really hard to get parts. The information is as follows: Type:FAA, Tractor Serial number: 338603, Max Idle Speed:15HO, Engine Serial number:339966. My husband is afraid the tractor is a lazarus, which will make restoring very difficult. If you can help us in any way in identifying this tractor it would be greatly appreciated.

It is a Super A built around 49-50 according to your serial# an easy tractor to redo as all parts can be found they wer and still great tractors. I didnt look up the exact yr it was built but you have a good tractor to restore and get it running.

Wendy: Your tractor is actually a early-mid 1953 Super A, probably around April. If you go to left of this page under Research & Info, go to serial numbers, then click on Farmall, then scroll to Super A.

Your engine serial number 339966 and tractor number 338603, making the engine 1,363 higher than tractor is quite normal for 1953. My Super A is engine number 338597 and tractor number 336977. Your block part number, 1" high digits partially behind the oil filter should read 354898 R1.

Your tractor should have pressurized, thermosyphon cooling, unless someone has added a water pump. Very original tractor, I would say.

You can get engine kits here on this forum. Most auto parts stores have tune up kits & oil filters.
