PTO on 1066 slips when on round baler oil in trans is full is there any way to adjust neighbor said something about o rings getting bad you have to increase throttle to engage pto hydraulics are slow too

the pto has its own hyd system, independent of the rest of the tractor. lock-up pressure is adjusted by turning the nut on the top of the control valve (where the over-center linkage connects). not sure about 1066, but 986 book calls for something like 240 psi i think. you check pressure by removing the plug on the left side and screw in a gauge.

if it's already slipped much, your pto clutch pack is probably toast. that means time to pull the pto unit and rebuild. there's a kit from CIH with clutch pack, o rings, etc. the I&T book explains pretty well how to do it.

What?? The PTO fluid is independent? Since when? My Ops manual doesn't say anything about "filling" the PTO fluid, changing the "PTO Fluid" or any such thing. I have a 1976 1066.
