Super C fan hub

I had several things I wanted to do to my SC before the 4th of July parade. I changed the valve cover gasket, cleaned the plugs, cap, and rotor. I was planning on doing the putting oil in the fan hub and I can NOT find the plug for it. I did the one on my A and everything went fine. I don't see a plug for the oil anywhere on the hub for the SC. Any Ideas? Ron
 
Ron: Could it be one of the replacement fan and hub. I've never been around one, but understand they are a modern type sealed bearing. You didn't say how long your history with the tractor so it's just a thought.
 
Ron: My suggestion was and still is, maybe it got changed before you bought the tractor. Those sealed bearing hubs have been around for about 15 years now.

Couple that with the fact you can't find the fill port for oil, just maybe you have the new replacement. Any fan hub I've ever looked at, and I've looked at a lot of them, that fill plug was very obvious. If you don't have the plug, it's got to be some other type. Just my reasoning.
 
I'm sharing Hugh' suspicions, Ron.

It's not sure-fire, but one possible way to verify that it has a sealed bearing kit in it is to look at the front of the fan shaft.

I say not sure-fire because different kits may have used bearings of different dimensions, but the kit I got from Mark's Tractors a few years back did not allow me to replace what had been the front cover for the front end of the shaft. Its the round plate with the bump in the middle that was attached with four screws and would remind you vaguely of the cone on the front of an airplane propeller. If that's not there, you can pretty much figure that it has sealed bearings in it, as the oil would all have leaked out of the original set-up. If it is there, it may still be a toss-up, but as Hugh suggests, the absence of the filler neck is a pretty good clue that it has sealed bearings.
