450 Farmall

I'm looking into a 450 Farmall, wide front, good tin & paint, good rubber all the way round, with 2 point hitch. What would be a good offer for it ? I haven't heard it run and don't know if the TA works. I've been told they like their Gas if worked hard, which I don't do heavy work( some rotary mowing and baling). Thanks in advance....

IF it runs well and is using little oil, and leaking little oil. As described it is worth 4500.
if selling, it is worth 3500 if buying. As nice as you describe it, think of the beautiful toy garden tractor of 25 HP you could buy with the same money. I do not thing garden tractors bale very well, nor do they pull 3-16s in clay. Dajust your price as you see fit. They are under valued. If the TA is toast, subtract 800. JimN

Sounds almost identical to one I looked at last year in Suffolk, VA - except it had a narrow front end. Seller wanted $2,500 for it. Hope this information helps you in some way.

Thank-you. I should have realized it was going to be expensive one to buy. The TA's aren't getting any cheaper ! I guess I'd better see if I could try it out before I decide, a diesel might be a better way to go with as far a consumption goes ? Thanks-again...

Don't worry about how much fuel it will use unless you are earning a living with it. Gasoline engines are much less expensive to maintain and rebuild, and they will nearly always start in the cold winter where a diesel will need lots of help.

Thanks Rusty, I just didn't want to break the bank on buying fuel, the heaviest work would be my 10 foot rotary mower, which my 730 Case diesel does now. I park my tractors in the Barn for the winter, and use my pickup to plow snow.
