My uncle recently purchased an IH 606 utility that has the underslung exhaust. He is wanting to run the exhaust vertical up through the hood. He is trying to find out exactly where the hole in the hood needs to be placed and the diameter of the hole. A local body shop said they would do the work if we he could get dimensions. If anyone owns a 606 and could give us the measurements of where the hole needs to be placed it would be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone could recommend documentation of where we could find this information it would also help. Thanks for any information

Perhaps I am oversimplifying or not understanding, but if you can make up a bushing (wood, plastic, metal) to center a sharpie marker in the exhaust manifold's outlet, that ought to mark the center of the hole close enough for a holesaw.

Why would you want to go thru the hood? All the new tractors have the muffleres beside the hood. Years ago on a loader-backhoe I rerouted the exhaust from under the tractor with a couple of elbows up the tractor outside of the hood and was happy with it. When John Deere was designg the New Generation tractors 4010, 3010, etc one of the designers wanted the muffler and air intake beside the hood, not thru it. Had they done that would have more to the already great ideas that went into that series. Armand
