Thinking about pulling the engine to have the block gone through as I have a knock on #4 cyl. Does the frame have to be split from the rear casting to do this? Thanks

The normal procedure is to split the tractor like you were going to replace the clutch. Then remove the engine from the front frame assembly.

Yes it does. The engine does not come out W/O splitting the tractor. (pretty much taking the front half apart. Splitting stands and blocking as well as good jacks and taking care are very important. A service manual is really important for hidden bolts and procedures not obvious to normal technique. It is heavy, a ton and a half or greater Cherry Picker is normal. JimN
