Starting Problem - IH674 Diesel

My 674 suddenly won't start from the key. It does nothing, no clicking or anything. No change when trying to jump. However, it will crank by shorting the starter. Is there a way I can determine if it's a starter problem or my ignition switch?

One thought, it might be in the clutch saftey switch, it might be bad or out of adjustment. if it is in the switch, use a ohm meter to trouble shoot.

Try jumping that neutral safety switch. That's "usually" what causes this symptom.

Thanks. The clutch safety has been bipassed and disconnected by a previous owner. I'll have to check on the neutral safety, not sure where it's located.

Hi Clark, IIRC the only safety switch on 674 is the clutch safety switch. There maybe a nylon electrical connector under the battery box on the clutch side of tractor. Make sure there is not a bad connection in that connector.
