Cub choke

Helping friend with older Cub he just purchased. He has cleaned and installed new needle and seat but it will only run with choke almost closed. Runs great if you get choke in just the right spot. Tank and lines are clean.

I would say that the carb to manifold gasket is leaking and is sucking air. With the breather tube installed and engine running, spray some either around this area to find where the leak is. You may have to file the two surfaces to get a good flat surface to fix the leak.

Did you check the screen in the carb. Pull the line off the carb and take the fitting out of the carb screen on the end of the fitting. Bill

If it will run for a long time with the choke set "just right" the fuel delivery to the carb is not the problem. Screwstick is on to it. It could also be partially plugged up main jet in the carb. JimN
