Model 46 baler

I hope someone can help. I am having nightmarish problems with knotting on my baler. I have swapped knotters from one which was knotting fine but had other problems and no improvement. My best guess is that the needle timing is off relative to the rotation of the twine discs. The twine is frequently not laying into the notch on the twine disc but is being caught and pulled around bewteen the discs and the twine holding gizmo. And like the dufus I am I have mislaid my manual. Does anyone have a manual you could consult and give me the parameters for correct needle timing and how to adjust it?
Thanks, Karl

One thing that is overlooked is the hay-dogs, they are spring loaded on the top of the chamber and the bottom, near the needle slots, if the springs are broken, will not hold materal back and the materal will deflect the string causing the twine disc to miss said string. Timing also important. Also make sure the twine disc are in time. Some times they can be A SOB. Good luck.

Hi Karl, check the needle carriage yoke for wear and alignment. Years ago on our 46 the needle carriage was twisted after stick and plunger and needles had a collision.

Good luck

I THINK I have it sorted. The previous owner had fitted a big fat radial tire and the needle carrier tube was hitting it. I flipped the wheel around, set the needle height to the book and so far so good. Thanks for the replys.
