340 tel-a depth

I have replaced the troublesome cable linkage on the fast hitch on my IHC 340 utility. I changed the tele-a-depth unit to a regular hydra touch unit. Now when I move the quadrant lever, the system goes under pressure and the hitch cylinder does not move. I know this is rather complicated but does anyone have any suggestions?

Richard: You changed the tele-a-depth unit to a regular hydra touch unit, do you mean control valves or entire unit? If that be the case then why did you replace the cable? There is no provission on a regular valve for attaching the cable. This requires a bit of clarification.

To me it sounds as though you have some plumbing wrong.

I should have said I took the cable off and discarded it. I replaced the tele-a-depth block with a regular block. I think you are right about the plumbing so I am going to try something different today. Thanks for your reply

Richard: How many remote control valves are on the tractor? Sorry I didn't get back sooner, your probably have it sorted out by now.

I did the same as you are doing with my 560, 40 years ago. I'll tell you what I can remember. My tractor had two remotes plus the tele-a-depth. Each remote had plumbing to side just ahead of platform. One on each side. One of those same remotes also had plumbing out the back alongside plumbing for the tele-a-depth. Changing from the the tele-a-depth valve to a regular remote was quite straight forward. I do remember some confusion over that plumbing out the back. I can't remember exactly what happened but it wasn't as I expected before I started. I had to change something out the back.

Hugh--I do not have it done yet as I took a break on Sunday. Mine sounds the same as yours. I have two remotes that go out of the blocks on top. The replaced block comes out the bottom and goes to the rear hitch cylinder. I have pluged the holes on the new block on top. It seems the problem is somewhere in the check valve or rear cylinder. I will keep trying. Thanks

Richard: Try by passing the check valve, those have been known to screw up. If you have enough hose and fitting adapters, try the hitch on another valve.
