I just want to say thk's to all that gave me info. I chked the the starting rpms they were 285. I chked the starting amps at starter they were 289 amps. YIPs! I chked the starting amps on my Duramax & it was 50 amps. Keep in mind this starter had been rebuilt twice & was always hard to start. Well I chked for gear reduction starters, none available. I chked for new standard starters, none available. I did finally locate a reman starter. I thought I'll chk with another starter builder & see what they had available, they had nothing but said bring in the old starter they would completely rebuild for $140. The only thing they use from the old starter is the case. Well to make a long story short if you are in the Austin TX area & need starter, generator, etc go to Texas Alternator. They did a heck of a job. The darn 3444 starts so darn easy it just scares the heck out me. Here all these years the darn starter had been built wrong & repaired wrong twice.
