I got my SC

First... MANY thanks to all those who helped me understand that this is what I needed for a small garden....
It took me two trips. On the first I was unprepared and didn't know how to tell the difference between a C and an SC. It was kind of a sneaky trip anyway as I went under the guise of looking at a boat and didn't let him know I was contemplating the SC. Tho we did talk about it, and I wrote the serial number down. SN.192223 makes it a mid year 54 if I figured it right.
On the second trip I was more prepared. Took a closer look and bought it for $1300. SC with a 5' bush hog. The tin is good and she is all there except the draw bar. Still on 6 volts with working lights and good hydraulics. Paint leaves something to be desired. A typical shade tree paint job.. ie: they painted everything and got over spray on a few things that should be black. But paint don't make her run good and I plan on using her in the garden anyway.
I don't figure the price is great but it's not bad and we are both happy..

Now to shop for implements.
Will A, B and C cultivators and planters interchange? I am guessing that they are close and many parts if not the entire unit will.

Also my wife doesn't know I bought another tractor yett.. so DON"T tell her please ;-)
She will find out soon enough. After I take her to dinner a few times I may drag it home..

Ken, I think you handled the purchase with due caution and you paid what you felt was fair. The only thing I would do different is bring it home right now. In my opinion paying for something and then leaving it set with the seller is asking for a variety of problems.

Decent deal!

Mounted implements differed even between the A/B/BN. Add teh confusion of the rear end of the C/SC being entirely different from the others, and I'm a friad you'll find that ot much of the A/B series implements are EASILY adaptable to the C/SC platform. That said, anybody with an idea and a torch . . .

Now about this other issue. Ol' Rog made it very clear, even put it in plain language so even a Minnie Mo afficianado could understand. The way to get new tractors in is to have so many that the missus doesn't notice another one. I'd have to say you're either fallin' behind or never wuz completely caught up in that regard.

Make a template of the front cultivator mounts on your SC and when you are shopping around match it up to B cultivators, may be close , C would be an exact match.

You don't say if the Super C has the fast hitch or not... most I have seen do have it.
The front mounted implements should be the same for C, SC, 200 and 230. Rear will of course be different from fast hitch or non-fast hitch. Some non FH implements may fit even if the tractor has FH, but most likely the FH will interfere. Mounted plows were available for either, but disks I believe were only available for FH. I plowed, disked, cultivated and mowed many acres with FH mounted equipment and thought all worked pretty well. Only drawback I noticed was no draft control with the plow made it less accommodating, but not all that bad. Dad had a non-FH mounted plow for a C and thought it did a better job than the FH version... I never used it, so have no opinion. One very nice option with fast hitch is that the plow and disk can be adjusted from the seat with the touch control, and pins can be relocated to allow for floating.

My boy - I don't blame you; I once had "wife-terror" myself with regard to spontaneously purchased tractors and cars for several years. The wives never seem to understand the concept of "[i:5153839329]Carpe diem[/i:5153839329]! (Live For The Moment!)

Finally, I shucked her like a 12-ga hull out of an Ithaca pump and got a new wife with two huge - er, uh - "bank accounts", and all has been bliss since.
Just kidding - been married for 42, sometimes long/sometimes short, years to the same "Red-headed, double breasted, mattress thrasher". (Guess I'm a bird watcher!)

Having never owned a C or SC, I quickly profess to not being an expert, but I don't think you are going to find much cultivation equipment that interchanges between the newer "C" series 2-row and the earlier A or B cultivation gear. mike
