brake bands for a Farmall H Where to get them

I know that YTmag has brake bands but are they the "longer" style that don't seem to work as well as OEM ones? Is it better to get the ones I have relined? If so, where can I get them relined at. I have never purchased brake bands before and I have seen somewhere that some aftermarket bands are a bit too long and don't stop as well as the factory ones.

I get them at the local IH dealer.
I thought the last set was too long but I had mixed up the left & right side brake cams. Tip: when assembled, the upper lever that the threaded adjustment connector fastens to should be parallel to the ground or pointed upward a little bit.

One detail that caught me when I replaced my H's bands was the cam unit was bent skewed. There are two triangular pieces of steel at either end in that cam and they should be aligned. If they are bent so one triangular plate is at a different angle than the other, your brake will probably be too loose - even with a new correct-length band. Just putting this in here so you can have a look at those before you reassemble.

Like I said before, the ones I got aftermarket were egg shaped so didn't contact drum properly. Length was ok but had to set them too loose so wouldn't drag and If you try shaping them the lining pulls away from band. Happened on two different H tractors and an M. Don't know who is making them for CaseIH, probably same outfit. I found couple of good old original bands and they work great.

There should be a shop that specializes in clutches and/or brakes in the nearest small-to-medium city. They can reline your existing brake bands.

I know that having the disk brakes redone with clutch liner, or kevlar, makes them work better. Dunno if the same is true for band brakes.
