Did all SMTA's have live power, or just the later ones?

I believe all could have, it was an option though.

I'll be the first to say I'm no SMTA expert, but from what I've personally seen over the past 55 years - all had live PTO. Some did not have a T/A, however. mike

My Uncle, who is actually very knowledgable as he runs the local machine shop and does field services, said no letter series ever had it. Then again, I've not seen an MTA in our little part of the world so he hasn't had exeprience with them. They were a little too fancy for our poor farm folk with mostly 1/4 section farms.

Independent PTOs were available from the start of production. So were transmission driven PTOs. Most had independent PTOs though.
