Hello, This machine has a d193 engine,it is blowing heavy smoke through the exhaust mostly gray-white with a hint of light blue,I have redone injectors and pump, does not seem to be loosing water or oil, it runs a little rough like it is loading up and missing,I wondering maybe valve guides,I thought I would run this by everyone to see if anyone else has had this problem or any ideas? thanks

If it starts well, it has OK compression on at least a few cylinders. While running is it an even regular misfire, or a irregular misfire. If regular, or the exhaust puffs smoke, crack the nuts on the fuel lines one at a time to bleed off the fuel pressure to one cylinder at a time. This can isolate a dead cylinder.
This engine is tough on the wallet to rebuild due to uncommon expensive parts. It is economical, and strong when correct. Bad injector patterns and pump can cause all these symptoms and are much cheaper than the rebuild it would need if low on compression. Good luck, I like 350UDs JimN

yes,I have bleed the injector lines and when I loosen them the cylinder misses more, it seems to be a irregular misfire,it does not start real well but the starter is tired,it does start puffing smoke as soon as it fires,I have not tested the compression but it seems to have compression on all cylinders, seems to have more than enough power, pull on throttle and away it goes,it has a roosa-master pumpI dont know alot about them,is there internal settings that would cause high pressure pumping at a idle? thanks

All pumps put out high pressure all the time. It is the amount of fuel delivered that changes the speed. At idle the engine is getting full air, and a whisp of fuel. At full throttle, it is getting as much as can be burned well by that same air. It cannot get too much fuel without over speeding and that is not happening. I will bet on a bad injector pattern from one or two injectors. Have them patterned at a diesel shop to see if it is in need. JimN

I had the injectors done at a injection shop last week, cleaned, new tips, tip pressure set and patterned, this is why I was leaning towards the pump or other causes, pump timing is also correct, new fuel, the smoke signals it sends when running smells rich. thanks for your replies

If you run it for a while the EGT may indicate where the issue is. A pyrometer is needed. In this case low JimN
