M brake adjustment

I put new brakes on my 51 M last summer and they worked good. Two trips to town and back afterward (30 miles per trip) and Saturday the third trip my brakes started to bottom out. Arriving home I had no brakes as the pedals hit the stop. Problem was when I put the brakes on originally the bands were very long and I had to use most of the adjustment to tighten them up ao the is very little adjustment left on the springs(adjusters).. Any suggestions on what to do now. Have considered taking the bands to be shortened . Any and all advice will be considered. Henry

Hi Henry,

Are you REAL SURE that you threaded the bands correctly? When ya thread 'em the wrong way they act like the bands are too darned long.

Dunno, but it really sounds like ya got 'em crankin' the wrong direction.

Dunno, but I can remember that one way they were too long and the other way thy were still long but workable. Will take them apart later on this week and see what gives. Henry
