Dt466 into 1066

My old 414 has 6500 hrs, and is getting a little weak, and is smoking more than it should. I have a line on a 466 out of a school bus. What does it take to make this swap? Do I need to swap turbo and exhaust manifold so the exhaust comes up through the hood? What about water pump, and fan? Thanks

To swap a bus or truck engine, you need to change the rear adapter plate, oil pan and sump, (you can use the truck pan but it makes it hard to get to the bottom bolts on the frame rails), the front cover, exhaust manifold, oil filter base and fuel filter base and lines, the governors in the injection pump are also different so you should technically use the pump off the the tractor but the truck pump would work, I might of forgot a few things but I hope this gives you an idea, it isn't just a quick simple swap

Probably be cheaper to rebuild your 414, that is why they sleeve them, and at least you'll know what you have.

If you really want a 466, all you have to change is crank, rods and pistons, to turn your 414 into a 466.
