Hi-
I have a Farmall 656 Gas that sat over the winter and now will not start. When the attempting to start I hear the starter motor make a banging sound like it's bumping hard into a stopped gear. The battery is fully charged but it does not turn the engine over... just bangs then makes an unfortunate buzzing sound.
My suspicion is that the clutch is not working and the tractor is stuck in a higher gear.
When I follow the clutch linkage back it does not appear to transmit the pedal movements back to the clutch compartment. And right at the connection to the clutch casing there is a rubber seal that has fallen apart and come off. Any ideas? Should I take the clutch apart or is it unrelated? Perhaps it is time to have it towed to the local tractor repair shop?
Thanks for any suggestions.
