Farmall H Brakes

Does anyone know where I can find a diagram for the disk style brakes on an H? Also where is a good place to find parts? I think I might need the whole actuating disc assembly, actually I think I need new everything. The brakes didn't work at all. I pulled the housing off and there was alot of water and rust in there. I could see that both the springs that hold the disc assembly together are broke. Any help would be great.

Thanks

OEM Tractor Parts Inc. Only problem they are very proud of them. It's the only place I found springs. They have everything you need. You can go to the caseih web sight for a parts break down.

That must be a late H, or super H for disk brakes. The disk brakes used on those tractors was very similar to other brands. The online parts diagrams at www.external_link should have pictures with part numbers.

I rebuilt the ones on my MH 44. The springs and balls were cheap. You will get socked if you need to replace the rotor or stator.

The Hs built in 1953 (not super H) had the same disk brakes as the Super H, and parts are readily available (I have the disks).

IF your H is earlier than 1953, it probably has the aftermarket "LAMBERT" disk brakes, and those parts are very hard, if not impossible to find. You might consider changing back to the band brakes.

I removed the add on disc brake assembly from my 52 H when I went through it. Never did like that brake as my Dad had them installed on both the H's when they were only a few years old. My problem is finding a good brake band as the chinese one everybody sells doesn't conform to the brake drum. If you bend the bands into shape the lining pulls away from the band. I lucked out and found one good band at a salvage yard and another hanging in the old barn. They work like the are supposed to. I gave the new, slightly used bands back to my HY-Capacity distributor and told him to make them aware they are not of good quality. Didn't ask for any refund, just to let them know what I thought. Still have that style disc brake on the other H and don't like them.
