on my 400 every time i go to shift it in to gear i have to wait to get it in. but when i pull the ta lever back it will almost go right in. i have the i.t. manual and have the ta adjusted acording to it. on my 300 and m it will shift right in what do i have wrong or is their something else i can adjust. thanks

The TA has mass, as it spins it tends to stay spinning. TA back reduces the spindown time. The others may have thicker trans oil, or less mass.
My uncles 400 was the same. JimN

The 400 does not have a transmission brake, so what you are experiencing is normal.

Actually, the 400 is the reason more modern tractors have transmission brakes, in a way. Newer tractors have even more spinning mass, that without a transmission brake would take FOREVER to stop spinning.

Yes it takes a while for moving parts to stop rolling, however, pulling ta lever should make no difference. If ta is adjusted properly pushing the cluth pedal should release ta same amount as ta lever does when you pull it. This is sometimes difficult to accomplish due to minimum movement with good new parts and if clutch pedal is sloppy and takes a dive off to the side when you push it you lose some of the effective travel.
