504D dies under load

I just recently bought a farmall 504 Diesel and when I start it up it runs fine but when I go up hill or put a load on it, it spits out black smoke and dies. I changed the fuel and checked the filter and its brand new and of course bled air out of the lines and it is still doing it the guy we bought I from said it sat for three years before he bought it and he said it was rebuilt a little before that. When i bought it he never said any thing about it doing that any help would be appreciated thanks.

Does it rev up ok in neutral and hold steady at high idle speed of 2000 to 2400 rpm? I may not be the most qualified here but I would think check the air intake pre-cleaner for restriction and oil level in the bath, then I would say something with the injection pump perhaps? You can check compression through the glow plug holes should be around 350 psi but I doubt if it would be that. Good luck.

I have found with my F504D that injector pump timing is critical. Obtaining a good manual will be a headache reliever for issues like this.
