Farmall Tractor Model AV

Hello everyone. We "inherited" (brother-in-law brought to our house some 5 years ago) a Farmall tractor in relatively okay condition. Of course, it needs paint and the motor probably needs a serious overhaul. Otherwise, the condition is pretty good. We are guessing that it is a 1942? I will have pictures to share shortly (husband is currently painting some parts) and was wondering what a good asking price would be? As you can see, we are clueless as to the worth of this machine but know from some preliminary research that it must be worth a few dollars.

Thanks everyone! As a side note, although we live on 4 acres, we really have no use for this tractor which is really disappointing. I think it is a great machine and would love to use it but I would rather see it go to a good home!

An AV would be worth maybe 20% more than an equivalent A. $1200 A = 14-1500 AV, $2000 A=$2400 AV etc. Only my opinion based on production numbers or rarity, about 3600 made. Totally based on condition and where you live. In western KS where I am, it wouldn't bring much.

Thanks for the reply. I now have pictures if anyone would like to see what it looks like. I tried uploading them here but apparently my account is blocked. You can email me directly at [email protected].

I did find out that it is a 1945 Farmall AV, based on the serial number FAAV 140322.

(quoted from post at 09:39:40 05/31/09) Thanks everyone! As a side note, although we live on 4 acres, we really have no use for this tractor which is really disappointing. I think it is a great machine and would love to use it but I would rather see it go to a good home!

I live on 7 and I bale hay with my H, not alot but it's fun and helps buy my propane for the house. Even if you have no usable ground for it you could take it to parades or take it on small rides for the kids pulling a small wagon. Drive it down to the fishing hole if ya got one and take a picnic basket, there's all kinds of uses for it just got to be creative.

Just to add one other opinion, just because the tractor is "rare" by virtue of low production numbers doesn't make it automatically "worth more" in every tractor user's eyes.

For example, I would have no use for an AV even if it was given to me.

Collectors or those who need the "high crop" feature for cultivating etc would be those who would want it the most.

My free advice is to use a "worldwide" marketplace such as ebay at least to draw the attention of those above who would most likely pay a premium for it.
