Here's the way the manual says to mount the torque motor:

I don't have the typical pump for it, so no help there.
 
Thanks, Steve! That is all I need to see. My brother put power steering on his M, he used a Charlynn torque unit with a GM automotive power steering pump. He got it all hooked up and it would not work. I see now by your pictures that he mounted the torque unit backwards!
 
Another question. Is that flexable coupling necessary? My brother just used a straight coupling as the steering shaft and torque unit shaft appear to be in line with each other.

Don't know that one for sure. I guess if something happens and the front-end flexes or the shaft wobbles a bit, you would wreck the torque motor without it.
