Pulled dash enough to bridge ammeter, still nothing. Then checked motor from John T"s step 8. Motor passed, but discovered one of the spring loaded arms that holds the brush to the shaft was frozen. Little monkey juice freed that up.
Then did the V/R tests from step 5. V/R failed. W/ field to Gnd & Bat bridged to Gen, got 7 plus volts at the battery.
I"m the 3rd owner of this tractor (Farmall 340) and have had it since 1992. It"s the same V/R that was on it when I got it, and maybe is the original??
Guess its time for a new one.
