help finding a 40 model B axle housing

Hello, I'm new here but active on the Ford board. I bought decent a 1940 model B Yesterday. Great running motor, runs clean, lots of compression when hand cranking, no starter of course. Brakes work, leaks from a few seals though, excellent fenders, great tank, later hood but OK, could use a grille someday. New front tires, old rears, paid 1,000 for it, I thought that amount fair for the condition. At onetime the left axle housing was repaired under the brake rod hole and is again missing a large hunk, my housing number is 6823-DA, any help finding a good one with no repairs would be great, Thanks very much! I'll probably ask a few rookie questions till I get a manual and more after. RJ

The axle is housed in the final drive.
I think that you might be refering to the Differential Shaft Housing. It should be 22 inches long on a B. Left and right sides should be interchangable too.

Thanks for the link, he is out of the Differential Shaft Housing at the time, I was calling it by the wrong name though, I'm learnin...
