966 tires and steering

After putting the new tire on the tight front, air to 50 lbs, toe set 1/4 inch positive I did a road test Now I have to keep turning the wheel counter clockwise a little at a time. 1 full revolution in a half mile. What's going on here? MORE resistance on the New tire on the right? Another $148 to cure this ? Or swap the tires/wheels across?
I have to drive this tractor 20 miles round trip about six times this summer so I need it to travel well at 18 mph.

It's pulling to the right due to the new sharp edge on the new right tire.

Take the left tire off the rim and flip it over to put the "90%" edge on the outside. That should eliminate most of the wandering.

Not sure what you're expecting, though. I've never driven a tractor any sort of distance where it did not require constant steering corrections.

You have to keep turning the wheel counter clockwise, but you never have to turn it back the other way?? If that is the case, the problem has nothing to do with the tires.

The hydrostatic steering is not new, and is bypassing a bit in the cylinder, or the pump in the column is bypassing a little. The drag is not equal from tire to tire, so the front end pulls some to the right. JimN

I think Mkirsch is correct. Putting more pressure in the left tire, or less in the right, might also help as a test of the idea. JimN

What I'm saying is all the corrections are left and I just keep winding the steering wheel around, left. Knob at 6 o'clock, and in a 1/4 mile all the way around to back at six.
We got some rain so I can't plant tomorrow so I'll pull the left and flip that tire on the rim.

sounds like internal leakage in the hydrostatic steering system. the book for the 806 specifies a max of i think 4 rpm when applying a certain torque at the steering wheel when against the stops.

got one tractor just like yours- turn the wheel a couple times around every row just to keep it straight. the other tractor holds steady. hasn't been enough of a problem yet to figure out what needs fixin.
