farmall 200 won't charge battery

i changed the battery and thought i polarized the voltage regulator. however, it keeps showing dis-charge. it worked fine before the new battery. am i doing something wrong?

Double check that it is hooked up pos ground.

With respect, the voltage regulator is not polarized, it is the generator that is polarized.
With the tractor off, Jump briefly between the Bat terminal and the Gen terminal on the regulator(not Field). This puts magnetism into the iron generator poles. JimN

Unless you installed the battery at the wrong polarity (and didnt polarize prior to start up) I doubt polarization is the problem. If you insist on Polarizing it should be done before you start it.

You may have fried your regulator. One polarizes generators, not regulators, but there is no need to do so when replacing the battery.

Batt should be 6v and pos ground. Is that what you have?
