cub running problems

I got my cub out this spring and found all of the gas had drained out. I put new gas in, and it started right up; ran for a 1/2 and stopped. It would restart. but not keep running...acting like it was staved for gas. I found gas leaking out of the setiment bowl and the gas shut off. I replaced the bowl with an new one (old one full of junk and bad seals, plus the shut off wouldn't work). I fired it up, and it runs, but will only run with the choke still on. Like still starved for gas. Could junk have gone through the bad bowl and is currently plugging the carb?

Any ideas would be appreicated.

Thanks

There is (or should be) a screen at the carb inlet fitting. If you remove the fuel line you should be able to see if if you shine a light in the opening. It could be plugged there and / or at the main jet. Remove the jet and clean it well.
