I almost ended up on the pavement while driving in the road gear this morning. Anybody know where I can get a seat post for a 1947 M?

Someone posted once a statistic that claimed that the number one cause of fatalities on the Farmall H was seat failure. I guess the M would be similar if it is true. Glad you're OK.
 
Is the failure because the seat is in bad condition or because of to much weight,or both.I'm asking because i just bought one and i don't want to end up like ANDY or worst. glad your fine.
 
Whoa!! Glad you are OK Andy! I replaced the seat post on my H because it looked pretty bad.

I can look at Myers Ward next time I'm over there if you need me to. Just let me know.
 
I had one rust out on an H recently but I spliced in a pipe before it toppled me. I'd go with the other design if you can move the deck bolts.

It is hard to see because the rear light is in way, but the support broke at the bottom of the tool box. Dust and trash can collect in the bottom of the tool box and when it gets wet it holds the moisture there and rusting will occur. After 50 years there a probably quite a few that are badly rusted.
 
Thanks Fellas! The seat post was bent due to a roll-over. Sadly, the gentleman that was on the tractor was killed - I bought the tractor from his widow and I vowed to restore it. She's almost ready for paint and a nice brass plaque to honor the previous owner - may he rest in peace. The seat post was damaged in the accident and was bound to fail - it was a wee bit crazy that it broke while I was hauling-the-mail on the road. Lesson learned.
