1456 Problems

Hello all,
Neighbors 1456 was running a silage blower last fall, and pto quit. They said it was really rattling inside rear end. I figure it just needs a new pto clutch put in. But then the story goes on that there is no power steering, and i guess the hyd outlets dont work either. It does start and run, and trans shifts ok, and the torque works. So is this thing junk, or is it a simple fix. I dont have a book for it yet. Might order a I & T shop manual if they desicid to fix it. But wanted to have an idea to tell them first. Its been sitting in the same spot since it broke. It might be for sale also. Whats everybody think its worth. I said $4000 if its an easy fix.
Thanks
Shawn

For the pto and the hydraulics both to quit your problem has to be the splines on the ipto shaft stripped off. That shaft is located in the clutch housing, it is a hollow shaft that splines into the pressure plate. The noise that was heard was the damaged splines catching and then slipping. Your probably looking at a complete clutch replacement.
