MOWING WITH A CUB

Morning All,
I need your help with a question about mowing with my IH cub.
Its a 67 with a IH mower driven by the power take off pulley. Does the pulley turn at the same rpm all the time ? My grass is getting high and the ground is starting to dry up so now is a good time to mow. In the shorter grass it does ok but it deeper grass it wants to bogg down. MY reaction is to throttle up but that make it go faster, if up press in the clutch it will stop.
If you were to run at lower engine rpm s will the mower still go as fast as it would at higher engine rmp . I guess my question is does the pto pulley run at the same rmp all the time ?
thanks for your replys

No,the PTO speed follows the engine RPM. I allways run at full throttle in first gear when mowing and the PTO stops whe the clutch is depressed. Mine is a 1948. Ed

This may help with the bogging.
be sure that the front of the blades are abouy 3/8 inch lower then the back. Put tractor on level surface rotate middle blade in line with tractor. check at blade tip.NOT THE MOWER HOUSING.

With a rotary mower, always mow at full throttle. With the cub, first gear except in very short grass. If the mower boggs in tall grass, take only part of a swath. The Cub only has 10 HP, not enought to do tall grass very well.

The PTO runs the same speed as the engine. If the engine speed is 700 RPM so is the PTO speed, engine 1800, PTO is 1800.

Not only does the PTO run at exactly engine speed, but the IH/Danco mower is about the hardest pulling mower you could hang on a Cub.

I always favored the Woods 42, because you're not trying to mow more width than the Cub can handle, and the quick-change swinging blades--as opposed to the lawnmower-style blades on the Danco--make it easier to KEEP sharp blades on the mower, since you can change both blades in about a minute with a 1/2" wrench.

And a mower with SHARP blades cuts easier and pulls easier.
