ok heres the deal....bought this hoe/loader off this guy for $1000.00 2 days ago...brought it home after much effort....he told me it was his father-n-laws and he didn't know a thing about it...it had been sitting in a field for years..i cracked the loader and hoe hoses and bleed off the hydro fluid so i could get the bucket and hoe up high enough to get on a trailer..was all excited and drained the oil pain and pure antifreeze came out...any feelings from you pros on what to do next....need help be gentle i am a virgin....thanx in advance

Hello James,
I think that is a dry sleeved motor. The best case would be a freeze plug under the valve cover is bad then a head gasket then a crack somewhere. I would pull the valve cover and fill the rad if nothing then I would pull the oil pan and look. you might have to pressurize the rad to find the leak.
Good Luck Ed

One possibility is that someone dumped coolant into the engine oil fill by mistake/lack of knowledge, etc....just didn't want it to freeze and burst over the winter and was in a hurry, "this must be it".

I think I'd pressurize the radiator to about 2-5 psi and see if you get any more running out the oil pan drain plug (or could feel the air).

If that holds, I think I'd fill with (cheap) oil again and run for a few minutes and drain it again.

If that holds, use a name-brand oil and do some testing!

first thanx for your reply....right now i am pretty bummed out....but yesterday i pulled the plugs and was going to try and just turn the motor over...the front cyclinder had antifreeze in it when i pulled the plug.....i just put the plugs back in loosely and today i will just try and see if the crank will turn....then it needs wires plugs rotor, etc...i will go buy those and see what next....i want to fill the cyclinders with tranny fluid first but guess i well try and get the water out first....heck dont know where to start.

if you have anti at the plug then it is not a freeze plug. most likely a head gasket but maybe a cracked head. I don't think i would try and start it I would pull the head and look the gasket over real good if you don't see any damage then i would get the head pressure tested. and a valve job

Ok i took the exhaust manifold off because it had two holes in it, also found a bunch of crap in all of the ports....pulled the valve cover off and all looked good.....pulled the head off and found a bent push rod, and badly rusted cyclinders......i will look at the head gasket in a couple of days...i gotta work 3 12 hour shifts the next few days....thanx again for everyones help....i took pictures and will post them tonight.
