12 volt alternator help

i recently converted my farmall h over to a 12 volt system. can somone please help me with the correct wiring on hooking upp the 12 volt alternator. i am having trouble with thw positive wire going to the starter switch getting hot and sometimes smoking. ant help will be apreciared.

Does the terminal on the starter switch heat up during cranking or when running/charging?

as far as i can tell it does it when cranking but it does get warn when sitting after cranking.

The diagrams below will help sort it out.
A wire that smokes is either too small (very possible) or being hooked up wrong. The alternator you used could put out as much as 100 amps, depending on the model. That much current needs an 8 gauge wire. Smoking is not good. JimN
