I might try and get a little more power out of my M when I rebuild it. Would a Super M engine kit work in the M block? (pistons, sleeves, rings, etc.)? Are the engine kits from YT any good? Are they made in USA? Thanks.

I buy mine from YT they're as good as any kit. don't know for sure but you may have to bore to go bigger than 4"

You cannot use a SM kit (C-264 engine) in an M (C-248 engine). Now you CAN get an overbore kit for your C-248 to turn it into a C-264...

A few options out there... depends on what you are happy with... some relatively affordable to down right pricey...

Measure your sleeves when you tear it down, you may have big bore sleeves already.

If you measure carefully, you may find the existing sleeves and pistons are OK and all you need are rings.

Don't order parts until you find out what you need. If rings are all you need they are very reasonable. It can be amazing what a valve job can do to an engine. Have you checked compression to determine whether you have ring or valve leakage?
