263/264 engines

I have a friend with a buckeye super d trencher. It has an IH 263 gas engine that froze and cracked the block. Is there much difference from that to a 264 out of a 151 combine?

(quoted from post at 10:53:29 05/19/09) I have a friend with a buckeye super d trencher. It has an IH 263 gas engine that froze and cracked the block. Is there much difference from that to a 264 out of a 151 combine?

The blocks are different. They can use most of the same gaskets but most of the internal parts are different. The BD 264 is sleeveless. The C 263 may or may not be sleeveless. The C 263 is an ag/industrial engine. The BD 264 is a motor truck engine.

The rear of the engines will interchange but the front mount will most likely be different. The governor may be the biggest issue. The ag/industrial governor mounts parallel with the engine block. The truck engine mounts perpendicular with the block. If you can get around those issues it should work.
