Extender on 3 pt. bottom link frozen

The extenders on the bottom links are frozen/rusted and will not extend, latches are OK and free. Is there a best way to free them up? Like soak them in a bucket of fuel? Or apply heat? Do they come all the way out or is there a stop?

Thanks.

There is a product called "Free All" that is absolutely amazing. It's a spray can like WD40 but WAY-WAY better.

Hit it with that a few times and let it penetrate. Dont breathe the fumes, they are very strong and will take your breathe away. It has never failed me.

Oh yeah. Been there; done that.

Soak 'em overnight with a good penetrating oil. Then hook 'er to another large tractor with a log chain and give 'er a yank.

They'll break free.

There is a stop built in.

They tend to freeze up over time if a feller doesn't use the "extend" feature when hooking up implements.

Judging from the latch wear, they may have never been used. Guy I bought the tractor from didn't know what they were for. Thanks for the input....the "bigger hammer" theory didn't work.

Get the gallon can of PB Blaster with the spray bottle. Soak 'em good and let them go overnight at least. Soaking them every day for a week would be even better. PB Blaster seems to actually dissolve rust.

If you're impatient, heat then PB. The heat will draw the penetrant into the seam. You need lots of heat though to get the castings hot.

Yeah,

You're not fighting "rust" so much as just plain ol' fashioned packed in dirt.

They are a very loose fitting to start with and all the farm dust/rain/field dirt over the years will collect in and around those extender sockets because in the normal up position, they are kind of a natural "catch-all".

Hook it to something solid and give it a small yank or two. They'll break free.
