IHC Spreader Floor/Apron Chain

Help, please, I"m trying to restore an old IHC manure spreader. Need the floor or apron chain. IHC dealer says I can buy the chain for $100/10 foot, but no drag bars or whatever they are called. Any ideas of other sources of the chain? What kind is it/what is it called? (It is NOT modern roller chain.) I could fabricate the drag bars, but gotta have the chain. Thanks.

IH spreader's used "S" steel chain, I've only seen it used on old IH spreaders, most others used 67 or 67H.

Our #40 spreader uses #67H links. I'd have to look again, but I think that nnalert out of Indianola, Iowa has the complete apron chain with bars. You need the width of the bars/ chain. Seems like the price was like $300 or so. Of course steel products have doubled lately. Have you checked the price of netted fence lately?? Scare the daylights out of you.
If your spreader uses the hook type links, that may be another story.

Sloan Express, 800-934-9777 has the chain you need. It sounds like you have a McCormick 100 spreader. This uses "S" flat steel chain. It's 52.99 for a 10 ft length and wow it's gone up. I restored a 100 spreader about 4 years ago and as I recall, the price was around $20 then. They also have the SBR and SBL links to attach the slats. They are 2.49 each. I will note also that if you are replacing the floor in your spreader, be aware that the bed is wider by about an inch at the rear as compared to the front. This is as designed so the manure will slide out easier. I was not aware of this when I cut the boards for my floor and had to do some rework. I reused most of the drag chain, just needed some parts to repair it. I also had to have a new roller chain for the drive mechanism, which I think I also got from sloanex.

Bill, thanks for the help. I've determined that my chain is 67H. I've ordered it plus the right & left links. Help from this forum is resulting in another neat old machine coming back to life and not going to the junkyard. Thanks again!
