CaseIH 885 3ph question

The 3ph on my 885 does not seem to lift high enough. If i bump the remote valve the 3ph will raise a little more but I can still lift the arms a few inches. I was told there should be some play but this seems to be too much. It become a problem with the plow because by the time I adjust the top link and draft so the plow rides level and all bottoms go in even the hitch barely lifts the 3rd bottom off the ground and I get a lot of scalping during turns and transport. Does not lift the 3ph corn planter enough either. One other thing if the arms are up while the tractor is off they drift down. Any ideas?

On a "real heavy" load pull both the draft and position lever back all of the way, will give you a few extra inches over the position in up and draft in heavy.

Run a plow on a 495 and it only clears the back bottom by a few inches unless both levers are back.

Hi we had same problem with our 684. Solution was to shorten the left lift link. The yoke part of the lift link screws into a nut on the lower lift link. By removing one end of the lift link and turning it in proper direction the lift link will be shortened. Be Careful not to shorten it to much or the upper lift link will protrude thru the bottom and bind on the 3pt arm when lowered all the way. The right lift arm can then be adjusted with levelling crank. Again be careful that the threaded part of lift arm dose not contact 3pt lift arm. We actually shortened the lift arm by cutting 3/4" off the bottom on both sides. Downside is the 3pt hitch will not lower to the ground as much but this is not a problem for most implements.
