Super A rear wheel seal

Thanks to all who have already helped me to date so far !!
The left rear inside seal is leaking. Can the seal be replaced from the outside or do I have to take the wheel off and replace it that way ??
I've only worked on cars up to this point, so any helpfull tips are very appreciated !!

The inner seal on the axle is covered with a square shaped plate that has a gasket. The diff shaft does have two seals on the shaft and the housing needs to be removed to replaced. So where is the leak on the axle or the diff shaft.

The leak is on the axle.

If that's the case, and it's on the inside, it'll be just as Gene described, just a matter of a gasket under the cap, not a seal. No need to drain anything to change it out, just clean and dry out well the metal for the gasket to seat to.
